America Sings! is a nonprofit organization founded in 1988 by John Jacobson, a renowned music educator, choreographer, and motivational speaker. The organization aims to inspire young performers to use their musical talents for community service and charitable causes.
The organization’s mission is to educate young people about the joys of philanthropy and their opportunities for charitable service and giving. It provides high-quality, non-competitive performing opportunities for young singers and dancers from choral organizations. Participants engage in community service projects, donating goods to food banks, homeless shelters, and programs for children in need. America Sings! also promotes choral music as an art form among young people and the general public.
Since its inception, America Sings! has hosted festivals across the United States, bringing together school choirs to showcase their work in a non-competitive setting. These events often include choreographed group songs and community service activities.
John Jacobson, the founder and volunteer president of America Sings!, has a background in music education and has been involved in large-scale productions, including those with Walt Disney Productions and NBC’s national broadcast of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.
